Department of Periodontology
The Department of Periodontology at Rahbar College of Dentistry focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal diseases affecting the gingiva and other supporting structures of the teeth.

Our curriculum covers a range of topics including prevention, diagnosis and treatment of gingival and periodontal diseases/conditions, along with surgical and non-surgical management of periodontal diseases. Students gain practical experience through clinical training and hands-on procedures, learning to manage conditions such as gingivitis, periodontitis, and other periodontal diseases. The department is committed to providing a comprehensive dental education that equips the students with the skills needed to ensure optimal periodontal health and overall dental care.

Asst Prof. Dr M. Ifthikhar Ahsen
Dr. Mohammad Ifthikhar Ahsen, BDS, FCPS, is the Head of the Department and Assistant Professor of Periodontology at Rahbar College of Dentistry. He brings extensive expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal diseases, with specialized skills in non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy, dental implant placement, and emergency dental care for medically compromised patients. Known for his meticulous attention to detail,
His professional journey includes significant roles at the University College of Dentistry, Lahore, where he served as an Assistant Professor from January 2024 to August 2024, and as a Senior Registrar from December 2021 to December 2023. In these positions, he conducted undergraduate teaching, supervised postgraduate residents, and managed comprehensive patient care, enhancing his educational and clinical supervision skills.
