The Department of Oral Biology and Tooth Morphology at Rahbar College of Dentistry focuses on the fundamental biological principles and anatomical structures of the oral cavity.

Our curriculum covers the study of oral tissues, tooth development, and morphology, providing students with a deep understanding of the biological and structural aspects of dentistry. Through lectures, practical sessions, and hands-on modeling, students learn about the function and form of oral structures and their relevance to dental treatments. The department aims to ensure that students have a comprehensive knowledge base to support effective clinical practice and patient care.
Faculty
Prof. Dr. Asad Mehmood
Prof. Dr. Asad Mahmood, FICD, CMT, MSc, B.D.S, is the Head of Oral Biology at Rahbar College of Dentistry. A Fellow of the International College of Dentistry (FICD) since 2023, he holds a Certificate in Management Training (CMT) and an M.Sc. from Queen Mary University of London. He earned his B.D.S from de’ Montmorency College of Dentistry in 2007.
Dr. Asad Mahmood is trained in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Dental management of Oral Cancer patients. Practicing general dentistry since 2008, he holds certifications in Periodontology, Dental Implants, and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. His research focuses on bioactive glass, enamel abrasivity, and dentin hypersensitivity. Passionate about dental education and patient care, he actively participates in free dental camps.

Asst Prof. Dr. Shaher Bano
Dr. Shaher Bano, M. Phil (UHS), BDS (de’Montmorency College of Dentistry), Certificate in Medical Editing (CME), CHPE, is an accomplished academician and researcher in the field of dentistry. A distinguished academician, she graduated with honors in Oral Pathology and received the Prof. B.A. Yazdanie Medal in Prosthodontics. She plays a vital role in shaping the foundational knowledge of BDS students. Her passion for teaching and research is evident through her active participation in oral and poster presentations on Research Day activities.
